Opening evening at Heron Hall Academy

Open Evening on Tuesday, 8 October (5.30-7.30pm)

Our school is part of North Star Community Trust which has a brilliant, high achieving secondary school - Heron Hall Academy in Ponders End.

This year Heron's Open Evening will take place on Tuesday, 8 October 2024, 5.30pm -7.30pm.

We are very proud of our North Star secondary school and hope you will come for a visit.

The Trust already know your children and can better help them adjust to and get off to a great start at secondary school.

You will be able to have a tour around the school to see our fantastic classroom, sports, teaching and learning facilities.

Headteacher, Arthur Barzey, will do two short presentations about the school to families in the great hall at 5.45pm and 6.45pm.

Free gift

Once again we will be giving all our families who come on the night a free gift to say thank you!

Gold and Silver prize tickets - Will you win?

Last year's Gold Tickets!

We’re excited to announce the return of our highly anticipated Gold and Silver Prize Draws for Year 6 and Year 5 students!

These prize draws have been a highlight in previous years, and this time, we’ve made sure the excitement is bigger and better than ever before.

Each child will receive a unique Gold or Silver ticket, giving them an incredible opportunity to win from an exciting array of prizes.

The lucky winners could be riding away on a brand-new bike or scooter, getting lost in a book on a Kindle, or diving into the world of creativity with an amazing art set or a stack of brilliant books.

And that’s just the beginning – there are many more fantastic prizes to be won!

To be in with a chance, children simply need to bring their special ticket to our Open Evening. It’s that easy!

This is the perfect chance for children to not only explore what Heron has to offer but also to take part in the fun and excitement of the prize draw.

So, make sure you don’t miss out – it could be your child’s lucky day! We can’t wait to see all of our Year 5 and 6 students there, tickets in hand, ready to claim one of these fantastic prizes.

Joe's story

Joe's first day at Heron Hall

Joe's journey from primary to secondary school

Joe came to Heron in September 2020.

We have so far filmed him through his first four years in the school.

You can see Joe develop from a shy Year 6 in his primary school, to a very confident, ambitious young man in Year 10.

You can watch some short films on YouTube about Joe and how he has made the transition from primary to secondary school and how he has been getting on ever since here.

Our curriculum

At Heron Hall Academy we aim to provide a skilful and knowledge-engaged curriculum which centres around how children learn to ensure all students strive to make the most progress they can.

The curriculum has two principal aims:

To provide opportunities for all students to learn and achieve to their highest potential, and to become successful lifelong learners

To promote students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development ensuring diversity is embraced, and prepare them to become responsible citizens

Students make fantastic progress with us
The progress our students make from the point at which they join us to when they leave is within the top 10% of the country.

We also insist on a strong emphasis on pastoral care.

What we expect from our students
Student achievement is recognised in a variety of ways throughout the year. For day to day achievements in class work and home learning, teachers and tutors issue positive merits for students; these merits are recorded onto our school system, certificates are awarded to those who achieve a high number of merits in each form class. You can read more here.
